Codes, performance & application guidelines

Everything you need to read a Techno Plast shade code, choose the right chemistry and get the best result on your line.

Coding system

Understand the product from its code

Every shade code has 6 digits: the first two identify chemistry and finish, the last four identify the colour family.

Application

Guidelines for best performance

  • Articles to be coated must be free from dust and grease and thoroughly cleaned. Iron or zinc phosphating is strongly recommended for better corrosion resistance.
  • Powders are applied by corona charging equipment. Voltage may vary between 30–100 KV depending on the product.
  • Metallic powders should be used with the charging voltage set to minimum. Recycled / recovered powder should be used with caution and care.
  • Maintain film thickness as per manufacturer recommendation: structure finishes at 80–100 µm and plain solid shades at 50–90 µm, as per shade.
  • Follow the curing cycle recommended by the manufacturer — typically 180°C for 10 min (hybrid) and 200°C for 10 min (pure polyester), metal temperature.
  • Do not mix our products with those of other manufacturers.
Storage & handling

Keep powder at its best

  • Store powders in a dry, cool area below 30°C.
  • Validity / shelf life: six months from the date of manufacturing.
  • Keep containers closed when not in use.
  • For full details refer to the test certificate and MSDS supplied with each batch.
Powder coating process
  1. Part preparation / pre-treatment
  2. Powder application
  3. Curing — E.P. 180°C for 10 min, P.P. 200°C for 10 min (metal temperature)
